My Day at Norval

On Monday, October 19 2009 we went to Norval for a team building day. We had a lot of fun. One of the games we played was Zig Zag, another was Kings Finger and the last was a ball game. Zig Zag is a game where you have to walk across planks. There are four spots, but you only have three planks. In Kings Finger, you have a long pole and a tire at the bottom, and you have to get the ring (tire) off the king’s finger (pole) and then back on. The last game we played was passing a ball around in a pattern without touching the ground while being timed. Our best time was 31 seconds. Overall I think our team did best at Kings Finger, because we all worked together (lifting one of our team members) and we worked quickly and efficiently.

The one thing our team had trouble with was Zig Zag, because we weren't really working as a team. Also we were not focused on the people on the logs, and some of us were talking to other people or fooling around. It helped when we had the rope with us to help keep us balanced, but before we had the rope a lot of us fell off and had to start over. We also had someone telling us what to do, but some people didn't agree with the person who was telling us what to do. We struggled, but finally we all made it through.

My overall impression of the day was it was fun and I learned a lot about team building. I learned that there are many things you can't do without being part of a team. Some things are Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Rugby and Field Hockey. I also learned that you can have fun even when you don't want to do something, and it makes you want to be part of the team. The most important thing I learned is that there is no “I” in team.
